Decisions, Decisions...
Ive been pondering for quite some time now, whether or not to get myself an ebook reader. The Kindle automatically came to mind, but with it's limited release in this part of the world (is it even released in Singapore at all???), i had all but put that idea behind me.
However, as i was walking through Kino yesterday, i happened to catch a glimpse of the IRiver Story. There it was, a nondescript yet surprisingly sleek little gadget, sitting on the display shelf, begging me to pick it up.
And so i did.
And now i sit here contemplating whether or not to pursue my 'love affair' with the IRiver.
"Books are the carriers of civilization…They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind. Books are humanity in print." - Barbara W. Tuchman
Id like to think of myself as more of a traditionalist when it comes to reading material. Like the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, I prefer text on papyrus. :P
But seriously, for me, nothing beats physically holding a book and revelling in its contents. Every flip of a page (say from a work of fiction) brings about new joy and excitement as plot details are revealed, characters are introduced and feelings are conveyed. That same raw emotion cannot be emulated with a digitalised book.
*sigh*
