Hmm, just back from the SPH journalism talk.
Gained some pretty interesting insights about journalism. The nuggets of advice and anecdotal accounts from the speakers were really helpful in giving me a better perspective into a career in the press. Im more than convinced that i want to pursue journalism as a career; the question now is what steps do i take next?
I reckon ill wait till im done with my NS before attempting to apply for the SPH scholarship (seeing as i enlist in Jan, hence giving me no time whatsoever to make any credible effort in the various processes i.e. writing diagnostic/interview/internship). The comforting thing to note is that though good academic grades are recommended, it is not the only thing being taken into account. The SPH scholarship is different in a way that there are other aspects of an applicant which they look out for. As i have every reason to believe that my A level results will turn up abysmal or above average at best, this gives me a glimmer of hope.
Anyway, prom is in a few hours time. ill just go watch a few movies till then. ;)
