Two For The Price Of One

A rather eventful day today.

NS medical checkup in the morning.

Met josh at CMPB. Frankly, i was quite surprised and relieved to see him there. I wouldnt know how i would have made it through the whole process if he hadnt shown up. The whole darn thing took 4 hours!!! Anyway, we did some catching up with each other and had a whole lot of fun during waiting periods. I actually felt quite embarassed as there was a point of time when only he and i were laughing, joking and talking to one another in the waitng room. The rest of the guys in the room were basically stoning and staring into blank space. It's times like these where you really appreciate your friends.

After that we headed to Tiong Bahru Plaza to watch Iron Man.

Iron Man. Two words: ABSOLUTE COOLNESS!!! The action was intense, if but a little too brief. But graphics and CGI simply blew my mind away. Robert Downey Jr's excellent protrayal of Tony Stark also made it worth watching. Dry wit, deadpan humour, witty one-liners, charisma - you name it, he's got it.

After it ended, josh and i were in the process of leaving, but we suddenly saw one of the cinema doors open. Some strange force seemed to call out to us; whether it was impulse or curiosity, i do not know. But we decided to stroll in. Considering that it was almost empty, save for a few people, we decided to stay for the movie. Hence, we ended up watching Speed Racer as well. For free! HAHAHAHA!!!! Any guilt experienced on our part was quickly washed away by the knowledge that movie tickets had just undergone a price hike. HAHA. Ok, that sounds like me trying to alleviate our guilt. But oh well, this is my first misdemeanour.

Speed Racer: You'll either hate it or like it. It comes off as rather cartoonish at first, what with all the brightly-coloured backdrops and comicbook-like sequences. However, i personally feel that its quite a laudable attempt at the racing genre. The racing sequences are the highlights of the show. It combines flashing rushes of light and awe-inspiring, gravity-defying car stunts. It's both realistic and unbelievable at the same time. Interesting movie, but may not appeal to everyone.

And that sums up day 1 of my 5 day weekend. Yep, you heard right, theres no school on Monday and Tuesday, so ive effectively got an extended weekend. :P
